Domaine les Chênes, ‘Grand Meres’ – Côtes du Roussillon Villages
Very old vines of Carignan (60%) black Grenache (10%) and, Syrah (30%).
Stony limestone soils for Carignan and Syrah, sandstone for the Grenache. Traditional vinification with maceration of 20 days for Syrah and Grenache and maceration of enter grapes for a part of Carignan. Aged in vats for one and half years with racking gives an Intense nose of ripe red fruits, pepper and violet. The attack is frank and powerful but the tannins are really well structured. This is a wine to savour with cold meats, a cassoulet or a duck confit.
